Cairo international film festival announces the dates for the 44th edition

Cairo international film festival announces the dates for its 44th edition which will be held from November 13th to November 22nd 2022 in Cairo opera house , like every edition the award-winning films will be screening the next day to the closing ceremony , November 23rd .

Submissions for the program will open on May 15th 2022 and will close on August 15th 2022 , films can be submitted as of that date on www.ciff.org.eg .

Amir Ramses , Festival director commented “ we have already started to watch , invite and follow up on the expected important films of the year along with the programming team”

98 films participated in the 43rd edition of the festival from 63 countries including 27 world premieres, 7 international premieres, 44 MENA premieres and 15 Arab and north African premieres .

More than 40000 tickets have been sold during that edition witnessing a significant increase in numbers from the previous editions , 337 international guests participated in the festival in 2021 .

The festival has presented renowned Egyptian actress “Nelly” the career achievement award for her great artistic contribution since her early childhood . also “Karim Abel Aziz” , Egyptian famous actor has received the Faten Hamama award for artistic contribution , special honorary awards were received by Cannes film festival director “Thierry Frémaux”, Indian composer “ A.R. Rahman” , American producer “ Lawrence Binder” and French producer/distributor “Eric Lagesse” .

The Jury of the international competition of the festival was presided by acclaimed Serbian director “ Emir Kusterica” , the juries included a variety of significant film makers and artists from around the world .

Cairo Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the Arab world and Africa , it is the only festival in the region classified in the A category by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations , FIAPF
