Directed by Brazilian filmmaker Gabriel Mascaro, the film tells the story of Tereza, a 77-year-old woman living in a small industrial town in the Amazon, until she receives an official order to relocate to a senior housing colony. In this isolated place, the elderly are taken to spend their final years while the younger generation dedicates itself to productivity and growth. Tereza refuses this fate and embarks on a journey along the Amazon River to fulfill one last wish before her freedom is taken away—a decision that will change her life forever.
The film is a co-production between Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and the Netherlands, starring Denise Weinberg, Rodrigo Santoro, Miriam Socorrás, and Adanilo. Gabriel Mascaro, born in Brazil in 1983, has won more than 50 international awards. His film "Neon Bull" was selected among The New York Times' Top Ten Films of 2016, and his film "Divine Love" was featured in the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival.
